“TRAINING ON CULTIVATION TECHNOLOGY AND MARKETING” UNDER TA-8960 MON: “SUPPORTING AGRICULTURE VALUE CHAIN” TECHNICAL ASSISTANCE PROJECT

“Training on cultivation technology and marketing” for Sea-buckthorn sector under TA-8960 MON: “Supporting Agriculture Value Chain” Technical Assistance Project was organized in 21-22th of June, 2018. Farmers were included in the training program based on their location at Batsumber soum, Tuv province. During sea buckthorn cultivation at early harvesting period, it is identified by the research and evaluation on raw material suppliers and farmers that the biggest loss is during fruit formation and harvesting. Therefore, it is required to conduct the training for farmers on increasing fruit formation, technology on high-quality berries, summer care and plant protection measures for cultivation. 

Objective:  For farmers i) The importance of Good Agricultural Practices, ii) positive and negative impacts on sea buckthorn fruit formation and harvesting, protection against negative impacts, iii) care during growth, iv) the effects of nutrients on sea buckthorn fruit, and its use, v) to provide insights, knowledge and information about protection against sea buckthorn fruits from harmful organisms.

Participants:   Ulaanbaatar city, Tuv, Selenge, Dornod, Bayankhongor, Orkhon, Bulgan, Darkhan-Uul, Uvs, Khovd provinces’ sea buckthorn farmers.

Expected output:

  • Farmers will have a good understanding of Good Agricultural Practice
  • Knowledge on the protection of fruit harvesting from the abiotic factor
  • Will be able to maintain proper vegetation during the growing season
  • Identifying sea buckthorn harmful organisms and knowledge on combating them
